Tokenization

Tokenization is the process of replacing sensitive data with unique reference numbers that retain all the essential information without compromising its security. Tokenization makes it more difficult for hackers to gain access to cardholder data and keeps sensitive information out of the data stream.

Encrypted card data is stored and the Merchant Warehouse Data Vault is tokenized at the Merchant Warehouse payment gateway

The token is returned and stored in the POS system along with approval or rejection of the transaction. The token is stored but the creditcard number is not. This meets the PCI mandate of never storing credit card data in the POS system.

The token enables current and future secure transactions such as refunds, voids, repeat sales, returns and post authorizations.
